Kathryn Browning
Iona, Idaho
Kathryn Browning, a plein air painter for over 50 years, was first introduced to the tradition through workshops sponsored by the local art guild under nationally known instructors such as Heyward Veal, Sergei Bongart, and Gerald Merfeld. Other instructors included Oliver Parson, Conrad Schweiring, Ronald Lucas, Hal Reed, and Gary Carter.
Kathryn ws a student of world-class colorist, Sergei Bongart at his school in Santa Monica, California. “He taught differently in his classes than he did in the workshops. In the classes he suggested students study value for a time before working with color. In the workshops the instruction was more condensed due to the time constraint.”
With membership going back to the founding days, she still takes an active role in supporting the Bonneville Art
